Will Casinos Alter The Paytables On Video Poker Machines Upon Request?
I was recently in Las Vegas and heard a person who was going into the “Champagne Slots” section of the casino saying that she had gotten the casino host to change the paytable on a 6/4 Jacks or Better Video Poker machine to have more generous payouts. I have no way of knowing if this had actually occurred, or if she was telling a tall tale, but it piqued my curiosity. I would like to know if the casinos will really do this; for regular joes, let alone high-stakes gamblers.

No casinos dont have the ability to change pay table after they are established.
A 6/4 Jacks or better would pay about 80% so I think the guy was talking out of his ***. The worst machine i have ever seen was a 6/5 at an indian reservation.

The answer to your question is a big NO

Unfortunately, that cannot be true. Once a machine arrives on the property, it is inspected and all chips are locked in their respective compartments and sealed by the gaming commisssion. Only the gaming commission can break the seal. The only way to change the odds is to physically change the chip. Unfortunately, your friend may have been exaggerating just a little.

Casinos do not have the ability to change the paytable on video games once it is on the floor. Those are setup by the game manufacturer who follows the guidelines set by the local gaming commission.
Also, if this person was a real high roller or whale, they wouldn’t be playing video poker. Baccarat or Black Jack is the games of choice for most high rollers. Very rarely would they play a video game long enough to even try to get the pay tables changed.
