Most people become professional after first doing it part time. Eventually, they earn enough money that they can quit their jobs and live on those earnings.
Of course you have to question if that is really how you want to spend your time. In a dark casino staring at a video screen for hours a day, several days a week.
For the vast majority of people it is not a viable way to make a real living.

Becoming a professional video poker player is a piece of cake.
Step 1.) Find out which games have a positive expectation (over 100% payback).
Step 2.) Find strategy charts for those games, then do your best to memorize them. Always take them with you to the casino in case you forget something, perfect play is essential.
Step 3.) Search out the city until you find every possible machine that has the correct payout.
Step 4.) Acquire a gigantic bankroll. The swings in video poker are enormous. You only hit a natural Royal Flush once ever 40,000 hands or so, and that’s where the money actually is. You must have the cash to ride out a couple hundred thousand hands without hitting a Royal. That’s a lot of scratch.
Step 5.) Sign up for players cards at every casino you’re going to play at. Alway use them, and be sure to take advantage of casino promotions like 5X points days.
Step 6.) Get out there and play! Be sure to follow proper strategy.

That’s 1 cent per hand. So, if you play at a brisk 500 hands per hour, you’ll make a whopping $5 an hour.
