Usually these operations are driven by ad revenue, and you have to watch ads, or they appear as you play.
Sometimes there are also fufillment requirements to get the cash prizes, you may have to submit ID and other proof, (this can be risky in sites that are not secure in all areas) and sometimes you also have to complete offers that may cost you money, enrollments or other things thay can get paid for having you do.

There is no such thing as a free lunch, read the fine print. I’ll bet their rules prevent you from withdrawing any “free” prize credited to your account. They lose nothing by applying a credit to your account in the hopes that you will LOSE more than they have given to you. Vegas does the same kind of thing with “casino dollars” in which you have to match the coupon dollar with a dollar of your own and win as if you played 2 dollars. If you win and quit, they lose a little, but most people will NOT quit when ahead and go on to lose because over time, the odds favor the house, always, in EVERY game of chance. Who do you think is paying their light bill? It comes from the profit they make off all of the losers. Online gaming works in exactly the same manner, only you have to supply a credit card and you have to pay to play. They are betting you will not stop if you win using the money they credit to your account as a “free prize” and go onto lose even more, which MOST people DO because they are greedy. THAT is the catch, greed.
